What if we compare one of the Ferrari’s with a Lexus in 2011 Ferrari 599 HGTE vs 2012 Lexus LFA. In 2009, Ferrari addressed several minor concerns about the 599’s woolly at-limit behavior with a package known as Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione (HGTE). The 6.0-liter V-12 engine is actually a derivation of the one in the Enzo supercar and creates a strong 612 horsepower. It includes stronger and shorter springs, a larger-diameter rear anti-roll bar, bigger front wheels, as well as faster shifts and firmer magnetorheological shock settings when the steering-wheel-mounted manettino switch is set to the sportiest “race” mode. On the inside, HGTEs get every carbon-fiber option.

Why would you take the Lexus over any Ferrari?

Interesting that these two cars would be chosen. Though the parallels are obvious, I can’t help noticing the missions are different. The Lexus is a Japanese Italia, not a Fiorano. Front engined Ferraris are never as visceral as their mid engined counterparts, going all the way back to the Dino and Daytona. It’s a shame that the Ferrari lost points for designed-in comfort and refinement. Maybe the GTO would have been a better choice?

I’s rather get a Ford GT and a new M6. I love the Ford GT ithink it is the greatest supercar of all time (hence my avatar). It outruns the Enzo, the 599 GTO, the Gallardo,the R8, the SLS AMG,the DBS and many others(even the mighty LFA). 0-60:3.2! sic! top speed:209! (look up Ford GT 209 on you tube to see it).
